BUSTED- A Citizens guide to surviving police encounters

This video is funny and also informative. It was made by the Director of the ACLU. Most of us do not even know our basic Rights as an American Citizen.

When stopped by the Police, may of us freeze and just go along with what the Officer says. The truth is, Police Officers are TRAINED to ask questions in a way, that your  response will wave your rights.

I do not mean this as disrespectful of Police Officers. I respect and admire them. I think they are underpaid and under appreciated, but that's another article...

I do not think people should intentionally break the law either, but there are times people end up BUSTED due to a friends carelessness, like dropping a joint or 'tobacco pipe' in your car, or innocently leaving a knife in your glove box.

You yourself may be innocent of any crime, but a search of your property could result in legal headaches that can be avoided.

An example of this (as seen in the video) is "You don't have any DRUGS in here do you? You don't mind if I take a look?"

By asking a compound question, when you answer "No" meaning 'I have no drugs in the car, the Officer takes it as 'No, I don't mind if you take a look."

You have just mistakenly waived your right to not be searched without probable cause or a search warrant.
